Project · December 2023 to April 2024

Jewel Paradise

A jewellery store that ran entirely on Instagram. We started it with ₹2,500 and wound it down five months later.

Product photos from the store's first posts, December 2023.

How it worked

We sold bracelets, necklaces and rings through Instagram posts and messages. Many pieces went out on a small printed card with a line on it, like “Friendship” or “Make a wish”, so they arrived ready to give.

I did the parts nobody sees: keeping track of what we had, what had sold and what we'd spent, and making the posts. It was the first time I had kept a set of books for something real.

What it taught me

With ₹2,500 there is no room for stock that doesn't sell. Keeping the books made pricing, margins and inventory feel like decisions rather than textbook terms: every reorder and every discount, like the Christmas sale, had a number behind it.

We wound the store down in April 2024. Over five months we sold more than 200 bracelets, more than 100 necklaces and about 50 rings.
